Imran Khan, the founding chairman of PTI, faces FIA interrogation over a controversial social media post, sparking backlash and highlighting responsible online behavior.

Imran Khan, the founding chairman of PTI, underwent a thorough interrogation by a team from the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) at Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail. This was the third visit by the FIA to question him regarding a contentious post shared on social media from his official account. Accompanied by his lawyers, Chaudhry Zaheer Abbas and Intezar Panjutha, Imran faced a 55-minute session of questioning. The FIA team, led by Additional Director Ayaz Ahmed and Sub-Inspector Muneeb, presented Imran with the disputed post and posed 16 questions to him, to which he responded with the help of his legal representatives.

The controversial post, shared on social media platform X on May 26, focused on former Bangladesh president Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. It encouraged Pakistanis to study the Hamoodur Rahman Commission Report to distinguish the true traitor between General Yahya Khan and Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The post also contained a video alleging that the former military ruler was responsible for the country's division during the civil war, citing reported atrocities by the Pakistani military. Additionally, the post included images of the current civilian and military leadership, accusing them of stealing PTI's electoral mandate. This post triggered significant backlash and controversy, especially from government circles, criticizing PTI for promoting a narrative of hatred and incitement by drawing parallels between Imran Khan and Mujib.

The interrogation of Imran Khan by the FIA sheds light on the repercussions of sharing controversial content on social media. It underscores the importance of responsible online behavior and the need for thorough investigations into potentially inflammatory posts. As the public awaits further developments in this case, it serves as a reminder of the power and impact of digital communication in today's society.
