The Lahore High Court nullifies the victory notification of Rana Arshad in PP-133, emphasizing electoral integrity and fairness.

In a recent development, the Lahore High Court (LHC) has made a significant decision regarding the victory notification of Rana Arshad from PP-133, Nankana Sahib, a constituency associated with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). This decision came about following a petition filed by independent candidate Muhammad Atif, who contested the victory notification of Rana Arshad.

According to the petitioner, he had initially received over 35,000 votes as per Form 45, indicating his electoral success. However, a recount conducted by the Election Commission revealed that Rana Arshad had secured over 25,000 votes, leading to the issuance of a notification declaring him as the winning candidate, despite the petitioner's earlier claim of victory.

The Lahore High Court, after careful consideration, deemed the Election Commission's decision to issue a notification in favor of Rana Arshad as unlawful. Consequently, the court nullified the notification declaring Rana Arshad as the successful candidate and directed the issuance of the petitioner's notification as the Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) for the constituency.

The Lahore High Court's decision to nullify the victory notification in PP-133, Nankana Sahib, underscores the importance of upholding electoral integrity and fairness. This ruling serves as a reminder of the judiciary's role in ensuring that electoral processes are conducted transparently and in accordance with the law, ultimately safeguarding the democratic principles of the nation.
