The Sindh High Court recommends investigating alleged interference in judiciary by intelligence agencies, proposing legal actions to safeguard judges' independence and uphold judicial integrity.

The Sindh High Court (SHC) has recommended a thorough investigation into the alleged interference in the judiciary by intelligence agencies, as highlighted by six judges of the Islamabad High Court (IHC). The SHC emphasized the need for a probe and institutional response in line with legal principles of judicial independence and separation from the executive.

During a meeting attended by SHC Chief Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi and other judges, it was noted that individuals and groups maligning judges through social media or attempting to influence judicial functions must face legal consequences. The SHC proposed invoking provisions of the Pakistan Penal Code, Defamation law, Cyber laws, and Contempt of Court Act to prosecute those making false allegations or hindering the dispensation of justice.

The proposal also outlined measures to safeguard judges' independence, restrict direct access to judges during judicial functions, and enhance monitoring to address any misconduct. Additionally, the Balochistan High Court emphasized resolving such issues at the high court level to maintain judicial independence.

Overall, the judiciary aims to uphold its integrity and independence by taking strict legal actions against any interference or defamation, ensuring public trust in the judicial system.
