During the Budget Session for the financial year 2024-25, the Leader of the Opposition raised concerns about the budget presented by the KP government, emphasizing the need for transparency, accountability, and a more realistic approach to budget allocation.

During the Budget Session for the financial year 2024-25, the Leader of the Opposition raised concerns about the budget presented by the KP government. He pointed out that the budget seemed to lack focus on the needs of the people, with over 92% of the funding coming from the Federation, indicating heavy reliance on federal support.

The opposition leader emphasized the rushed nature of the budget presentation and passing, stressing the importance of transparency and accountability in budget allocation. He highlighted the neglect of crucial sectors such as health, education, IT, and Mines and Minerals, as well as the absence of empowerment for local bodies.

Furthermore, the opposition expressed worries about the province's increasing debts, stagnant economy, and insufficient efforts to boost revenue. They called for a more realistic budget approach and proposed the formation of a committee to address irresponsible financial practices.

During the session, members from various parties shared mixed reactions to specific budget allocations. While some welcomed initiatives like the Chashma Lift Canal project in DI Khan, others questioned the prioritization of non-productive projects like the BRT Phase.

There were appeals for strategic investments to enhance agricultural productivity, boost exports, and improve retention of skilled professionals in government healthcare facilities. The session concluded with the passing of the Finance Bill for the upcoming fiscal year and a resolution to reduce public transportation fares in Peshawar.
