PDMA reports 59 deaths in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa tragedy

Severe weather conditions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have led to a tragic death toll of 59, with nearly two dozen lives lost in a single day. The provincial disaster management authority (PDMA) reported that the inclement weather has caused widespread devastation, particularly in the form of roof collapses, road accidents, and drowning incidents. Women and children make up the majority of the victims, highlighting the vulnerability of certain demographics during such crises.

The relentless rains, now in their fourth consecutive day, have paralyzed daily life in many areas, causing damage to numerous houses and disrupting power supply. The situation has been exacerbated by a combination of windstorms and heavy showers, leading to the suspension of traffic on various roads across the region.

Tragically, the death toll includes individuals from different districts, such as Bajaur, Mardan, Malakand, Khyber, Swat, Lakki Marwat, Upper Dir, Mohmand, Lower Dir, and Bannu.
