Zartaj Gul's ECL Case Under Review by Islamabad High Court

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) is currently reviewing a petition regarding the removal of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Zartaj Gul's name from the Exit Control List (ECL). During a recent hearing, Justice Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri asked for records from the lawyer representing Zartaj Gul. This request came as part of the plea filed by Zartaj Gul herself.

The lawyer mentioned that Zartaj Gul's name is included in the PNIL, leading the judge to inquire about the reasons behind her listing. A law officer clarified that Zartaj Gul was recommended for inclusion in the PNIL by the Islamabad and Punjab Police. It was disclosed that Zartaj Gul is facing five cases in Islamabad and Punjab, and she is currently on bail in all of them. The advocate for the petitioner explained that when someone is on bail, their name is automatically added to the PNIL list.

Justice Jahangiri raised questions about the number of cases for which Zartaj Gul is on bail and requested the petitioner to appear in court for the next hearing. The Islamabad High Court has instructed Zartaj Gul's lawyer to provide the necessary records next week and has postponed further proceedings until then.
