An Islamabad district and sessions court has recently reserved its verdict on the pleas filed by Imran Khan, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, and his wife Bushra Bibi in a case concerning the validity of their nikah ceremony. The presiding judge, Shahrukh Arjumand, made this decision after hearing arguments from both sides. Present during the proceedings were Khan's lawyer, Salman Akram Raja, Bushra Bibi's counsel, Usman Gul, and prosecutor Adnan Ali. The assistant counsel for the complainant highlighted the need for Khawar Maneka's lawyer, Rizwan Abbasi, to provide essential arguments as the required record was not available.

During the court session, the judge instructed Bushra Bibi's lawyer to present the final arguments and requested Abbasi to present his arguments via video link. This case stems from a previous ruling by a local court in Islamabad, which dismissed Maneka's no-confidence motion in appeals against a conviction in the iddat case. Maneka had expressed distrust in the judge and requested a transfer of the case to another court, citing concerns of bias.

Maneka claimed that the judge was showing favoritism towards the opposing party based on his family's beliefs. Khan's lawyer argued that seeking a transfer of the case amounted to contempt of court, referencing a previous fine imposed by Justice Babar Sattar on a similar motion. Following a tense exchange between Maneka, Raja, and Judge Arjumand, the no-trust plea was ultimately rejected.

The case involving Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi's nikah ceremony has garnered significant attention due to the legal complexities and allegations of bias. With the verdict now reserved, the final decision will have far-reaching implications. Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story.
