Karachi residents relieved as earthquake causes no casualties

On Wednesday evening, different parts of Karachi experienced a 3.2 magnitude earthquake, causing concern among residents. The tremors were felt in areas including Quaidabad, Malir, Gulistan-e-Johar, Gulshan-e-Maymar, and Saadi Town. The seismological centre reported that the earthquake's depth was 12 kilometres, with the epicenter located near Malir.

Despite the intensity of the quake, fortunately, there were no reports of casualties or significant damage. Authorities have reassured the public that the situation is under control and no immediate threats are present.

Earthquakes are not uncommon in Pakistan, given its geographical location in a seismically active region. The country is situated on the boundary of the Indian and Eurasian tectonic plates, making it prone to seismic activity. Karachi, being a densely populated city, is particularly vulnerable to the impact of earthquakes.
