Chaudhry Shafay Hussain and Zhao Shiran discuss economic cooperation

The recent meeting between Provincial Minister for Industries and Commerce Chaudhry Shafay Hussain and Chinese Consul General Zhao Shiran at the Chinese Consulate in Lahore focused on enhancing economic cooperation and investment opportunities in Punjab. The discussions centered around the security of Chinese nationals, collaboration in sectors like textiles and information technology, and the promotion of solar energy projects.

Minister Hussain highlighted key projects such as the development of a 2,000-acre Garment City near Lahore and the Nawaz Sharif IT City initiative. Plans are also in place to establish a labor colony within the Garment City premises, emphasizing the cost-effectiveness of labor in Punjab to attract more Chinese investments.

Consul General Zhao Shiran expressed China's readiness to collaborate on these initiatives and commended efforts to ensure the security of Chinese citizens working on development projects in the region. He also mentioned an upcoming Digital Economic Conference in Beijing, signaling further opportunities for economic cooperation between China and Pakistan.

The meeting, attended by officials like DG Industries Asif Ali Farrukh, CEO Punjab Board of Trade and Investment (PBIT) Jalal Hassan, and DG Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB), signifies a positive step towards strengthening ties and fostering mutual growth between the two countries.
