The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) recently conducted a widespread enforcement operation across the country, resulting in the confiscation of 1,235 packs of counterfeit cigarettes valued at approximately Rs96 million. This initiative was spearheaded by FBR Chairman, Malik Amjed Zubair Tiwana, and closely overseen by Mir Badshah Khan Wazir, Member Inland Revenue (Operations).

Under the directive of FBR leadership, the Inland Revenue Field Formations carried out a rigorous crackdown specifically targeting counterfeit and non-stamped cigarettes. The operation aimed to combat evasion practices within the tobacco industry and ensure compliance with tax regulations.

During the enforcement drive, a total of 4,652 retail outlets were inspected nationwide to identify any illicit activities related to tobacco trade. As a result, 33 establishments were discovered to be involved in the illegal sale of tobacco products and were promptly sealed off.

This decisive action by the FBR underscores the government's commitment to combating counterfeit goods and enforcing tax laws to protect public health and revenue interests. The successful operation serves as a warning to those engaging in illicit trade practices and highlights the FBR's dedication to maintaining integrity in the taxation system.
