The Lahore city administration has lowered bakery bread prices and subsidized ghee to enhance food accessibility and affordability, addressing cost of living challenges.

The city administration in Lahore has recently announced a significant reduction in the prices of bakery bread, commonly referred to as double roti, due to the decrease in wheat rates. This move aims to make essential food items more affordable for the residents of Lahore. The price of a 750-gram bread loaf has been set at Rs180, down from the previous range of Rs220 to Rs230. Additionally, the price of a smaller 400-gram bread loaf has been lowered to Rs90. These price adjustments come as a relief to consumers amidst economic challenges.

Moreover, the provincial government has also taken steps to reduce the price of 'Tandoori roti' to Rs15 per loaf, in line with the decreasing prices of essential food items. This decision is expected to benefit a wide range of consumers, especially those with limited financial resources. In another development, the Utility Stores Corporation has announced a price cut for ghee, offering a subsidized rate of Rs375 per kilogram, reduced by Rs18. Non-subsidized ghee will be available at Rs445 per kilogram. This initiative aims to provide affordable cooking essentials to different segments of society.

These price reductions in bakery bread and ghee reflect the government's efforts to address the cost of living challenges faced by the public. By making essential food items more accessible and affordable, the authorities are striving to improve the overall quality of life for the residents of Lahore. Such initiatives play a crucial role in ensuring food security and economic stability for the community.
