National Productivity Organization boosts gemstone sector through collaboration

The National Productivity Organization (NPO) has taken a significant step towards enhancing the gemstone sector in collaboration with the Asian Productivity Organization (APO) Tokyo, Japan. Through a technical assistance program, the NPO, along with international experts from the Gems and Jewelry Institute, Thailand, conducted consultancy sessions and workshops across various cities in Pakistan.

The focus of these sessions was on crucial aspects such as gemstone identification, certification, cutting, and polishing techniques. Stakeholders from Peshawar, Gilgit, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and Lahore participated in these workshops aimed at boosting their capacity and fostering economic growth through knowledge sharing and skill development.

Industry professionals, associations, and international experts came together to promote collaboration and economic prosperity within the gems and jewelry sector. By sharing knowledge and hands-on skills, the program aimed to enhance stakeholder capacity, paving the way for broader collaboration and sustained economic prosperity.

The ultimate objective of the program is to elevate gemstone products to international standards. This involves providing comprehensive knowledge of cutting, polishing, designing, and heating techniques, as well as enhancing understanding of best practices and technological advances in gemstone value chains.

The NPO's initiative, in partnership with the APO and industry experts, signifies a crucial effort towards the development and growth of Pakistan's gemstone sector.
