In a recent address at the All Pakistan Chambers Presidents Conference, Professor Ahsan Iqbal, the Minister for Planning Development and Special Initiatives, highlighted the government's dedication to maintaining a well-balanced budget to drive economic growth and enhance social well-being. He emphasized the importance of efficient resource management, budget stability, and cutting down on unnecessary expenses to overcome economic challenges.

Professor Iqbal pointed out the longstanding external challenges faced by Pakistan, particularly the lack of export-oriented industries leading to high imports and pressure on foreign reserves. He stressed the immediate need to boost export-focused industries to reduce imports, alleviate strain on foreign reserves, and promote sustainable economic advancement and inclusive development.

Underlining the significance of political stability and consistent policies for a minimum of five years, the minister outlined the government's strategy to foster public-private partnerships in development projects to address financial gaps. He also shed light on the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), focusing on growth, technology, green economy, and regional development.
