Adiala Jail imposes ban on prisoner visits for security reasons

Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi has recently enforced a three-day ban on prisoner visits due to security concerns. This decision affects prominent political figures like Imran Khan and Shah Mahmood Qureshi, who are currently detained at the facility for various legal matters.

The prohibition on inmate meetings comes after a thorough search of the jail premises and its surroundings. The Inspector General of Prisons has mandated this restriction until May 15, along with the implementation of heightened security measures within the jail compound.

Emergency drills are being conducted to prepare for potential security threats and maintain order within the prison. The primary goal of these actions is to enhance security and uphold discipline among the inmates.

Earlier this year, the Punjab home department had also imposed a similar ban on prison visits at Adiala Jail, citing security reasons. The government clarified that these measures are not meant to hinder PTI leaders' access to Imran Khan but are a response to a credible security alert currently under investigation.

The temporary prohibition on prisoner visits at Adiala Jail underscores the authorities' commitment to ensuring the safety and security of both inmates and staff.
