Federal Minister and Canadian High Commissioner discuss key reforms

The Federal Minister for Finance & Revenue recently highlighted the government's key reform areas during a meeting with the Canadian High Commissioner to Pakistan. These areas include increasing the tax-to-GDP ratio, digitalization, and administrative reforms. The Minister emphasized the importance of bringing untaxed segments into the tax net to boost revenue. Additionally, discussions were held regarding the successful completion of a Stand-By Arrangement with the IMF and future engagements.

Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb also emphasized the government's focus on privatization initiatives, specifically mentioning plans to privatize state-owned enterprises like Pakistan International Airlines. He noted positive responses from both local and foreign investors regarding these initiatives.

In the energy sector, the Minister highlighted the reconstitution of DISCO boards with private sector experts to improve efficiency. He also stressed the role of the Special Investment Facilitation Council in simplifying investment processes and attracting foreign investments.
