Armed Robbers Clash with Police in Multan

On April 22, 2024, a dramatic exchange of gunfire took place between police officers and armed robbers in the vicinity of Jalalpur Pirwala police station in Multan. The incident occurred during the early hours of the morning on Qambar road Pehalwanwali near Mouza Duraab.

The two injured robbers, identified as Shakir and Kherat, were already in police custody for their involvement in a murder case where they had fatally shot a 35-year-old man named Junaid during a house robbery attempt a few weeks prior.

As the police were escorting the suspects to recover a weapon, they were ambushed by three unidentified armed individuals who sought to free Shakir and Kherat. A fierce gun battle ensued between the police and the assailants, lasting over 20 minutes.

Ultimately, Shakir and Kherat were found wounded from the crossfire initiated by their own accomplices, while the other criminals managed to evade capture under the cover of darkness. Both injured individuals were promptly transported to Nishtar Hospital for medical treatment.

Authorities revealed that Shakir had a criminal record with 22 cases pending against him, while Kherat was wanted in connection with 14 cases involving serious offenses such as murder, attempted murder, dacoity, and robbery.

Specialized police teams have been mobilized to track down and apprehend the fugitive criminals who fled the scene. The investigation into the incident is ongoing as law enforcement agencies work to ensure the safety and security of the local community.
