Transgender mob clashes with police over alleged mistreatment

An incident of violence erupted at Saddar Police Station in Kharian tehsil of Gujrat district, where an angry mob of transgender individuals vandalized the premises. The chaos stemmed from allegations of torture and illegal detention of the transgender community by the police.

The clash began when law enforcement officers attempted to conduct a body search on a group of transgender persons who were returning home from an event. Tensions escalated, resulting in a physical altercation between the transgender individuals and the police. Subsequently, paramilitary forces intervened and transferred the transgender persons to the police station.

During their time in custody, reports emerged of the transgender persons being subjected to acts of torture. This mistreatment further fueled the anger within the transgender community, leading to the destructive protest at the police station.
