CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa directs the installation of electric vehicle charging stations and an Intelligent Transportation System in Islamabad, promoting sustainable transportation and modernizing infrastructure.

Recently, during a visit to the Jinnah Convention Centre and H-9 Bus Depot in Islamabad, the Chairman of CDA, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, has directed the installation of electric vehicle charging stations at the bus depot and an increase in charging points at the Convention Centre. This initiative aims to promote sustainable transportation and reduce carbon emissions in the city.

The Convention Centre currently houses a 1 MW LT panel capable of charging up to 12 electric buses simultaneously. As part of the project, 60 electronic buses will be procured, and a command and control system will be implemented to manage the fleet efficiently. The Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) is scheduled to be completed by July 31, which will enable the Islamabad transport system to operate autonomously.

In addition to the focus on electric vehicles, the Chairman also highlighted the importance of maintaining the infrastructure at the Convention Centre. He instructed the use of internal resources to carpet the pathways inside the Centre and assigned the Environment Wing to undertake horticulture work within the premises.

The introduction of electric vehicle charging stations and the implementation of an Intelligent Transportation System mark significant steps towards a greener and more efficient transport system in Islamabad. These initiatives not only contribute to environmental sustainability but also pave the way for modernizing the city's infrastructure. With these developments, Islamabad is moving towards a more sustainable and technologically advanced future.
