Speaking alongside his sons, MNA Abdul Qadir Gilani and MPA Ali Haider Gilani, before Eid prayers at the Musa Pak shrine, Gilani urged unity among political factions. He also expressed concern for the plight of Palestinians, emphasizing the importance of not forgetting their struggles during festive times.

Gilani drew parallels between his own past experiences, including imprisonment during his political activism, and the current challenges faced by political workers. Despite these difficulties, he expressed optimism that justice would prevail for those currently in legal battles. The former Prime Minister announced his intention to contest the bye-election in NA-148, the constituency he left upon becoming Senate Chairman. He confirmed the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's request for him to retain his opposition and parliamentary leader roles in the Senate, a commitment he vowed to uphold. Gilani assured effective governance within constitutional boundaries and pledged to collaborate with allies for the nation's benefit.

Regarding the PPP's agenda, Gilani reiterated the party's dedication to creating a new province in the region, a longstanding goal in their manifesto. He mentioned plans to advance this initiative through consultations with coalition partners.
