Commissioner Riaz Khan Mehsud Ensures Safe Eid Celebrations

In a bid to ensure a safe and peaceful Eidul Fitre celebration, Commissioner of Peshawar Division, Riaz Khan Mehsud, has issued strict directives to Deputy Commissioners and District Police Officers of all five districts under the division. The focus of the directives is on preventing aerial firing on the night of moon-sighting, a common practice during festive occasions that poses serious risks to public safety.

During a meeting held on Monday, Commissioner Mehsud emphasized the need for utilizing all available resources to curb this dangerous behavior. The meeting was attended by various key officials, including Deputy Commissioners, District Police Officers, traffic police authorities, and administrative officers.

Key measures outlined in the directives include increased police patrolling starting from the afternoon of the moon-sighting night, with Assistant Commissioners also required to be present in their respective areas. Strict legal action is to be taken against individuals engaged in aerial firing, with no leniency to be shown by the district administration.

Additionally, a public awareness campaign against aerial firing will be intensified, and extra traffic personnel will be deployed at critical intersections to ensure smooth traffic flow. Special cleanliness arrangements will be made on routes leading to Eidgahs and other major Eid congregational sites.

Furthermore, the administration will crack down on transporters overcharging commuters, as well as on the dangerous practice of kite flying using chemicalized threads. These measures aim to create a safe and enjoyable environment for the community during the festive period.
