Deputy Mayor Salman Abdullah Murad has stressed the importance of implementing toll taxes to secure the financial autonomy of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) and enhance service delivery within the city. The toll tax initiative will be enforced on roads under KMC's jurisdiction, facilitated by the Sindh Excise Department. Efforts are underway to improve road infrastructure within KMC limits to improve commuting experiences for residents.

The recent approval by the City Council to collect toll taxes in collaboration with the Sindh Excise and Taxation Department from vehicles utilizing Karachi's roads and bridges marks a significant step towards bolstering KMC's revenue streams. This decision was prompted by a resolution presented by Irshad Ali Advocate and Dil Muhammad, with Mayor Murtaza Wahab underscoring the need for Karachi to contribute its fair share of taxes, akin to other institutions such as the National Highway Authority.

Moreover, Deputy Mayor Abdullah highlighted the joint efforts of the local government and all town administrations to ensure the proper disposal of offal during Eid ul Adha, aiming to enhance the city's cleanliness and overall well-being.

The implementation of toll taxes in Karachi signifies a proactive approach by the city's leadership to enhance KMC's financial sustainability and improve public services. Collaborative initiatives like waste management during festive seasons further demonstrate a commitment to enhancing the quality of life for Karachi's residents.
