Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, with support from FCDO and Dr Zafar Mirza, is actively working towards implementing Universal Health Coverage through strategic planning and collaborative efforts to enhance healthcare access and promote community well-being.

Many countries around the world are striving to make healthcare affordable and accessible to all through Universal Health Coverage (UHC). In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), the government is actively working towards expanding healthcare access for its population. The Health Department Government of KP is developing a roadmap to implement UHC, addressing gaps and formulating a cohesive strategy for healthcare reforms in the province.

The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) is supporting KP's efforts through the Evidence for Health (E4H) technical assistance programme. Dr Zafar Mirza and the E4H team are collaborating with the government to create a strategic plan for UHC implementation in KP.

Recently, a consultative workshop was held in Peshawar to gather feedback on the draft UHC roadmap. The goal of the roadmap is to achieve universal health coverage by taking a comprehensive approach to the health system for the entire population of KP.

The progress towards Universal Health Coverage in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa marks a significant step in improving healthcare access for all residents. With collaborative efforts and strategic planning, KP aims to ensure that every individual receives the healthcare they need. This initiative not only enhances the health system but also promotes the well-being of the entire community.
