Director of Agriculture Muhammad Shahid emphasizes daily reporting on wheat harvesting, urges enhanced cotton cultivation efforts, and initiates a campaign to accelerate cotton cropping post-wheat harvest.
In a recent meeting at Agriculture House, Sargodha, Director of Agriculture, Muhammad Shahid emphasized the importance of daily reporting on wheat harvesting and threshing, as well as maintaining records of per-acre wheat production. Despite recent rains, no adverse effects on the wheat crop were reported. Shahid urged for increased efforts in providing technical guidance to farmers on harvesting, storage, and delivery of wheat, taking into account weather forecasts. He directed officers to promptly offer guidance on advanced cotton production techniques in Mianwali, Sargodha, Bhakkar, and Khushab districts post-wheat harvest, ensuring the availability of quality agricultural inputs at fixed prices. A cotton cultivation campaign has been initiated to encourage farmers to accelerate cotton cropping in the division, leading to the reassignment of Agriculture Department staff to focus solely on this initiative. Field activities are to be enhanced to support cotton farmers, with improved coordination with irrigation department officials for water supply during cotton cultivation.
