The Federal Government announces a Rs 23 billion relief package for AJK residents, including subsidies on flour and electricity to ease economic burden and improve living standards.

Residents of Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK) are set to receive a much-needed financial boost with the announcement of a substantial relief package worth Rs 23 billion by the Federal Government. The package, unveiled by AJK's Finance Minister, Abdul Majid Khan, aims to alleviate the economic burden on the people of AJK through various subsidies and price reductions.

The relief package includes significant subsidies on essential commodities such as flour and electricity. The price of flour has been slashed from Rs 3,100 to Rs 2,000 per 40 kilograms, providing relief to households struggling with rising food costs. Moreover, electricity charges have been revised to benefit residential and commercial consumers. Residential consumers will now pay Rs 3 per unit for usage up to 100 units, Rs 5 for 100-300 units, and Rs 6 for usage above 300 units. Commercial rates have been set at Rs 10 per unit for up to 300 units and Rs 15 for usage exceeding 300 units.

Minister Khan acknowledged the crucial role played by Prime Minister Shehbaz in facilitating the smooth implementation of the subsidy measures. He highlighted the Federal Government's proactive approach in not only effectively addressing the subsidy issue but also thwarting any attempts by certain groups to exploit the situation for political gain.

The relief package announced for AJK residents signifies a significant step towards easing the financial strain on the local population. With subsidies on essential goods and revised electricity tariffs, the Federal Government's initiative aims to improve the living standards of the people in AJK. This timely intervention is expected to bring relief to households and businesses, demonstrating the government's commitment to supporting its citizens during challenging times.
