The federal government in Islamabad implements a no bag policy for primary schools to reduce the burden on students by providing storage solutions within classrooms.

Students in Islamabad have been grappling with the problem of carrying heavy school bags, especially young learners burdened with multiple books and supplies. To tackle this issue, the federal government has taken steps to reduce the weight of school bags. A student-friendly no bag policy has been implemented for primary schools in Islamabad starting from August 1. After the summer break, students will no longer need to lug around their school bags as they will have access to storage cabinets in their classrooms to store their textbooks and materials. This initiative aims to ease the load on young learners, with all primary schools making necessary arrangements to support this change.

Prior to this, the government had launched the 'Lighter Bag Brighter Student' campaign, which, despite its initial success and positive feedback from parents, was gradually phased out. The introduction of the new policy comes in response to parents' demands for the reinstatement of measures that promote a healthier educational setting for their children.

The implementation of the no bag policy in primary schools in Islamabad marks a significant step towards alleviating the burden of heavy school bags on students. By providing storage solutions within classrooms, the government is striving to create a more comfortable and conducive learning environment for young learners. This initiative not only addresses the physical strain on students but also underscores the importance of considering students' well-being in the educational system.
