Punjab Government Implements Revised Transfer Policy for School Teachers

The Punjab government in Lahore has recently implemented a revised transfer policy for school teachers across the province. This new policy allows teachers to request transfers based on hardship reasons at any point during the year. Eligible categories for transfers include teachers with disabilities, widows, divorcees, and those facing long commuting distances to their current schools.

The primary goal of this initiative is to offer support to government teachers who need to move due to personal circumstances like marriage or health issues. Under the updated policy, teachers can now apply for general transfers twice a year and mutual transfers twice a year. Moreover, the Department of School Education in Punjab has committed to ensuring that all types of promotions are processed within a 30-day timeframe.

To expedite the transfer process, the department has directed district committees to promptly review transfer applications and make decisions within 30 days. This efficient approach is intended to make the transition smoother for teachers seeking transfers for valid reasons.
