Former Baltimore City State's Attorney Marilyn Mosby has been sentenced to one year of home confinement for her involvement in a fraud case. The federal judge's decision follows Mosby's conviction on charges of perjury and mortgage fraud. As part of her sentence, Mosby must serve community service and forfeit her vacation home in Florida.

After the verdict, Mosby addressed her supporters, stating that while the situation is ongoing, she felt the presence of God during the proceedings. She declined to answer questions from the press. Mosby expressed gratitude, believing that divine intervention influenced the judge's decision to allow her to return home with her children.

In addition to home confinement, Mosby is mandated to complete 100 hours of community service and wear a location monitoring device. The 43-year-old was found guilty by two separate juries of unlawfully withdrawing $90,000 from her city Deferred Compensation Plan to purchase two Florida vacation homes. She was also convicted of providing false information on a mortgage application.

The court determined that Mosby obtained mortgage approval by submitting a fraudulent $5,000 gift letter from her ex-husband. Despite her conviction, Mosby will retain the appreciated value of her initial down payment. The property, originally purchased for $428,000, is now valued at $886,000.

Mosby faced a potential 40-year prison sentence, with prosecutors seeking 20 months of incarceration. However, the defense argued for probation, emphasizing Mosby's non-violent offense and her role as a mother to two young daughters. Ultimately, Judge Griggsby sided with the defense's recommendation.

Prior to sentencing, Mosby's legal team initiated a national media campaign to secure a Presidential pardon. Mosby continues to assert that she was unfairly targeted for political reasons and wrongfully convicted.

Former Baltimore City State's Attorney Marilyn Mosby's sentencing to home confinement for fraud has brought closure to a case that involved charges of perjury and mortgage fraud. Despite the conviction, Mosby remains steadfast in her belief of divine intervention and continues to assert her innocence. The sentence serves as a reminder of the consequences of fraudulent activities, even for individuals in positions of authority.
