Minister Kirmani Aims to Revive Punjab's Cotton Industry

The Punjab Agriculture Minister, Syed Ashiq Hussain Kirmani, has emphasized the importance of reviving the cotton industry in the region. During a recent meeting at Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Agricultural University Multan, Minister Kirmani highlighted the government's commitment to transforming south Punjab into a thriving cotton valley once again.

Minister Kirmani outlined the target of cultivating cotton on 4 million acres in Punjab to achieve a production goal of 6.5 million bales. He stressed that the success of the cotton industry is crucial for the country's economy and that all necessary resources are being mobilized to meet these targets.

Under the vision of Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz, various projects have been initiated to usher in a green revolution in the province. Minister Kirmani also called for a zero-tolerance policy towards counterfeit fertilizers and pesticides, emphasizing the need for strict monitoring to ensure the availability of quality agricultural inputs at fixed prices.

To support cotton cultivation, efforts are being made to ensure an ample water supply in cotton-growing areas. The Agriculture department is closely monitoring field staff activities to accelerate cotton cultivation and meet the set targets by May 15.

With ongoing activities aimed at guiding farmers and increasing awareness about best practices, the government is determined to boost cotton production in Punjab. Regular meetings at divisional and district levels, along with technical advisories, are part of the strategy to support farmers in achieving their cultivation goals.
