Minister Kirmani of Punjab inspects livestock facilities, emphasizes animal welfare, and ensures high standards in the livestock sector through proactive oversight.
Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Punjab, Syed Ashiq Hussain Kirmani, recently visited the Shahpur Kanjran Cattle Market in Lahore to evaluate the facilities at the free veterinary medical camps. Accompanied by Secretary Livestock Punjab Masood Anwar and DG Livestock (Extension) Asif Salman Sahi, the minister stressed the importance of thorough spraying of animal vehicles at all entry and exit points of the market and other sale points.
During the inspection, Minister Kirmani instructed the medical staff to provide 24/7 care to the animals and ensure strict adherence to vaccination protocols. Secretary Livestock Punjab briefed about the arrangements in place at the market, where a daily influx of 35,000 to 40,000 animals was noted. The ongoing efforts have already seen 0.3 million animals treated, with a target of 0.8 million animals to be treated by Eid.
After the market visit, Minister Kirmani conducted an impromptu inspection at the Punjab Agriculture and Meat Company. He examined the slaughtering facilities at the company's slaughterhouse, receiving a detailed briefing from CEO Sanaullah on the operations and procedures.
The minister's proactive approach towards ensuring animal welfare and maintaining high standards in the livestock sector is commendable. Such inspections and oversight play a crucial role in safeguarding the health of animals and the quality of meat products for consumers.
