The Pakistan Institute of Education leads efforts to integrate formal and non-formal education data through EMIS, aiming to benefit marginalized populations and enhance educational access in Pakistan.

The Pakistan Institute of Education (PIE) recently hosted a crucial meeting to finalize the integration of formal and non-formal education data through the Education Management Information Systems (EMIS) for the academic year 2022-2023. This significant initiative is part of the Advancing Quality Alternative Learning (AQAL) project, a collaboration with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), aimed at consolidating and disseminating data on non-formal education to benefit out-of-school children, youth, and adults across Pakistan.

Key stakeholders from both formal and non-formal education sectors gathered to review the progress towards integrating data systems and develop an action plan to complete pending tasks. The ultimate goal is to compile comprehensive national education statistics that will facilitate informed decision-making in the education sector at both national and international levels.

The Senior Joint Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Education and Professional Training commended the participants for their dedication and emphasized the necessity of continued collaboration to establish a unified education data system. The Director General of PIE highlighted the importance of integrating formal and non-formal education data to address the educational needs of all segments of the population.

The Director General of the National Commission for Human Development reaffirmed the government's commitment to enhancing education data systems for effective policy-making and achieving national educational objectives. The Technical and Coordination Committee finalized and endorsed the education data for the academic year 2022-23, ensuring accurate representation of both formal and non-formal education statistics for policy-making and research purposes.

Representatives from partner organizations showcased the project's accomplishments in providing educational opportunities to out-of-school individuals and emphasized the focus on creating a supportive learning environment that promotes lifelong learning and skill development.

The efforts of PIE and its collaborators in integrating formal and non-formal education data signify a significant step towards improving educational access and quality for marginalized populations in Pakistan. By consolidating and disseminating accurate education statistics, this initiative paves the way for informed decision-making and policy formulation to enhance the overall educational landscape of the country.
