Price control magistrates in Faisalabad division crack down on profiteering during Ramazan and Eid, imposing fines on over 21,000 shopkeepers and taking strict action against violators.

In a crackdown on profiteering during the holy month of Ramazan and Eid holidays, price control magistrates in Faisalabad division have imposed a hefty fine of Rs.17.8878 million on 21,373 shopkeepers. The magistrates conducted a total of 298,669 inspections across markets in Faisalabad, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, and Chiniot, revealing widespread violations.

Out of the total shopkeepers inspected, 8,443 were found guilty of overcharging customers, while 12,930 failed to display rate lists as required by law. As a result, fines were imposed, amounting to Rs.17,887,800 in total. Additionally, 1,459 shopkeepers were arrested, and 73 shops were sealed for violating the Price Control Act and Ehtiram-e-Ramazan Ordinance.

The local administration has taken strict action against the offenders, with cases registered against 101 accused individuals. Further investigations are ongoing to ensure compliance with regulations and prevent exploitation of consumers during religious festivities.
