Prime Minister approves plan to reduce population growth rate

The government has set ambitious goals to manage population growth as part of its five-year strategy. During the recent National Economic Council (NEC) meeting, the Prime Minister gave his approval to the Ministry of Planning's proposal. The primary objective of the plan is to reduce the annual population growth rate to 1.1 percent by the year 2030. To achieve the target, the Ministry of Planning is working towards lowering the total fertility rate to 2.2 percent by 2030, as it currently stands at 3.32 percent in the fiscal year 2024.
