Chief Minister Gandapur leads polio eradication discussion

In a recent meeting at the Chief Minister's House in Peshawar, a delegation of the Polio Oversight board, led by Dr. Christopher Alias, met with Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sardar Ali Amin Khan Gandapur. The delegation included representatives from the World Health Organisation, UNISEF, and other international partner agencies, along with provincial health minister, Chief Secretary, and officials from the National Emergency Operation. The discussions primarily focused on various initiatives for polio eradication in the province, challenges faced, and future strategies.

The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of collective efforts in eradicating the polio virus, stating that while it is a significant challenge, it is not impossible. He expressed the government's full commitment to supporting the eradication efforts and highlighted the need for a targeted approach to address concerns of parents refusing polio vaccinations for their children. The engagement of public representatives, religious scholars, and elders in sensitive areas was also emphasized to increase vaccination acceptance rates.

The delegates praised the Chief Minister's leadership in successful polio eradication campaigns in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and pledged their continued support to the provincial government in achieving their goals. They highlighted the importance of strengthening coordination among local administrations and partner organizations to ensure positive outcomes in the fight against polio.
