The Amman-Zarqa Bus Rapid Transit project, led by Prime Minister Khasawneh, is set to launch trial operations on May 15. With 48 King Long buses acquired, the BRT system aims to improve public transportation, reduce traffic congestion, and promote eco-friendly travel choices in the region.

The Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project connecting Amman and Zarqa is making significant progress under the supervision of Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh. The trial operation of the Amman-Zarqa BRT system is scheduled to commence on May 15, marking a milestone in enhancing public transportation in the region.

The Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) has acquired 48 King Long buses at a cost of JD7.584 million to support the BRT system. This network comprises two main lines spanning a total distance of 32 kilometers within Amman. Line No.2, stretching 17 kilometers from Sweileh to the Jordan Museum, was launched for trial operation in mid-2021. Line No. 1, covering 15 kilometers from Al Mahata Terminal to Sweileh Terminal, began its trial operation in the first quarter of 2022.

The BRT project aims to provide efficient and sustainable transportation options for residents and commuters between Amman and Zarqa. With the introduction of modern buses and well-connected routes, the system is poised to alleviate traffic congestion and promote eco-friendly travel choices in the region.
