Punjab Safe Cities Authority Impresses Trainee Officers

A group of trainee officers from the National Institute of Management (NIM) recently had the opportunity to visit the Punjab Safe Cities Authority in Lahore. The visit aimed to familiarize the officers with the innovative operations of the authority and its efforts towards enhancing safety and security in the region.

During the visit, the trainee officers were warmly welcomed and given a comprehensive briefing by the Chief Administration Officer and the SP operation commander. They were introduced to the first virtual women's police station in Pakistan, where they learned about the range of services it provides to women in need. Additionally, the delegation explored the Artificial Intelligence Traffic Management System and the Emergency 15 Panic Button, both of which play crucial roles in ensuring public safety.

The officers were informed about the ongoing smart city projects in various cities across Punjab, emphasizing the commitment to modernizing infrastructure for the benefit of residents. They were particularly impressed to discover the availability of Free Wi-Fi at 100 locations in Lahore, including key public areas like hospitals, educational institutions, and parks. The delegation also learned that over 450,000 women have installed the Women Safety App, underscoring the importance of technology in promoting personal safety.

Furthermore, the delegation received demonstrations of various technological tools such as the video call feature, Punjab Police App, and Safe City Web Portal, all designed to facilitate communication with virtual police and access emergency services. The installation of 15 emergency panic buttons throughout the city was highlighted as a proactive measure to ensure swift assistance during crises. The Women Safety App was particularly praised for its role in empowering women to seek help and information promptly.

The delegation expressed their appreciation for the innovative initiatives implemented by the Punjab Safe Cities Authority. They commended the use of artificial intelligence in the traffic management system and the 15-call emergency system, recognizing these efforts as significant steps towards enhancing safety and security for all residents. The visit served as an eye-opening experience for the trainee officers, highlighting the importance of technology in modern law enforcement and public safety.
