The Punjab Food Authority, under the leadership of Provincial Minister for Food, Bilal Yasin, has intensified its efforts to ensure food safety in Lahore. Recently, the authority's teams have been conducting raids on units involved in packaging and selling expired items to protect consumers from health risks.

In a recent raid at a fake unit in Transformer Chowk Shah Alam Market, a significant amount of expired spices, kheer, Ispaghoul, spice bags, and packaging material were seized. Minister Bilal Yasin highlighted that these expired food items were being repackaged with popular brands' packaging, endangering the health of unsuspecting consumers.

The crackdown was prompted by the lack of proper records and documentation at the raided units, which intended to distribute the expired items to shops and hotels in Lahore. The swift action of the Punjab Food Authority has successfully prevented the circulation of counterfeit food items and protected the residents of Lahore from potential health hazards.

Furthermore, the authority is actively targeting hotels that use substandard raw materials in food preparation. A specialized meat safety task force is conducting regular inspections along different routes in the city to ensure compliance with food safety standards.

Minister Bilal Yasin emphasized the strict measures in place to combat the sale and purchase of adulterated milk, diseased meat, and other counterfeit food items in the region. The Punjab Food Authority remains dedicated to upholding food safety standards and safeguarding public health in Lahore.

The Punjab Food Authority's proactive approach in cracking down on counterfeit food items and ensuring food safety in Lahore is commendable. By taking swift action against units involved in repackaging expired items and monitoring food establishments for compliance, the authority is playing a crucial role in protecting the well-being of the city's residents. It is essential for consumers to remain vigilant and support such initiatives to maintain a safe and healthy food environment.
