SPARC and CTFK launch 'Youth Against Tobacco' campaign in Pakistan to engage youth in anti-tobacco activities, emphasizing a healthier future and a thriving economy.

The Society for the Protection of the Rights of the Child (SPARC) has initiated a month-long campaign in Pakistan to raise awareness about the dangers of tobacco consumption. Titled 'Youth Against Tobacco: Healthier Generation - Thriving Economy,' the campaign aims to engage youth in anti-tobacco activities throughout the month, leading up to World No-Tobacco Day on May 31, 2024.

SPARC, in collaboration with the Campaign for Tobacco Free Kids (CTFK), will involve young participants in various initiatives such as forming clubs, speech competitions, poster designing, social media campaigns, and video messages. Dr. Maheen Malik from Campaign for Tobacco Free Kids stressed the importance of empowering youth for a healthier future, highlighting the economic significance of investing in youth well-being.

During the campaign launch event at the Punjab Group of Colleges, Mahnoor, a member of the Anti Tobacco Youth Club, emphasized the detrimental effects of tobacco on the youth of Pakistan, urging unity in protecting them from this harmful substance. Ch. Muhammad Akram, Director of Punjab Group of Colleges, emphasized the crucial role of educational institutions in promoting healthier habits and brighter futures for students.

Dr. Khalil Ahmad Dogar, Program Manager at SPARC, reiterated the organization's commitment to safeguarding children's rights and creating a tobacco-free environment for future generations.

The anti-tobacco campaign led by SPARC and supported by CTFK underscores the collective effort to combat tobacco use in Pakistan, with a specific focus on empowering youth for a healthier and tobacco-free future.
