A supervisor of the Anti Polio Campaign in Rawalpindi was robbed by armed dacoits, prompting police investigations and calls for improved security measures to protect citizens and frontline workers.

In a concerning turn of events, Rawalpindi witnessed a brazen robbery when two armed dacoits targeted a supervisor of the Anti Polio Campaign in the Ratta Amral area. The incident, which took place in broad daylight, has raised questions about the efficacy of police security measures in the region.

The supervisor, Syed Wasif Ali, was on his way to oversee the duties of anti-polio teams in union councils when he was accosted by the armed robbers near Railways Hospital. Threatened at gunpoint, Ali was forced to hand over cash and his mobile phone before the dacoits fled the scene.

Following the incident, Ali promptly reported the robbery to the authorities at the Ratta Amral police station, urging them to take action. The Chief Police Officer (CPO) spokesperson assured the public that an investigation is underway, with the Superintendent of Police (SP) Rawal tasked to apprehend the culprits.

Unfortunately, this was not an isolated incident, as another gang of three armed dacoits targeted a citizen in the Saddar area, stealing his motorcycle. The police have registered a case against the perpetrators and are actively pursuing leads to bring them to justice.

The recent spate of robberies in Rawalpindi, including the targeted attack on a polio campaign supervisor, underscores the pressing need for enhanced security measures in the city. It is imperative for law enforcement agencies to bolster their efforts to ensure the safety of citizens and frontline workers engaged in critical public health campaigns.
