The All Parties Hurriyat Conference accuses the Indian government of human rights violations in Jammu and Kashmir, calling for urgent UN intervention.

The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has accused the BJP-led Indian government of using the Lok Sabha elections as a cover-up for its alleged human rights violations in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The APHC spokesperson, Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas, highlighted the excessive military presence of over 1,100,000 troops in the disputed territory, with a soldier-to-civilian ratio of 1:10. These troops, stationed not only at the Line of Control but also within civilian areas, have been accused of conducting raids, arrests, and collective punishment against civilians advocating for the right to self-determination as promised by UN resolutions.

Minhas condemned India's use of force, citing violations of international laws and widespread human rights abuses, including fake encounters and torture in military camps. The APHC also referenced warnings from international bodies, such as Genocide Watch and recent US intelligence reports, predicting escalating tensions in the region. The organization praised the resilience of senior Hurriyat leader Mushtaqul Islam, who completed two years of illegal detention under the Public Safety Act, seen as an attempt to suppress political dissent in Kashmir.

The APHC called on the UN to intervene and resolve the Kashmir dispute, emphasizing the urgent need for international action to address the humanitarian crisis in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
