Aseefa Bhutto Zardari's Nomination Upheld by Sindh High Court

The Sindh High Court (SHC) has upheld its decision to reject the petition challenging the nomination papers of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Member of National Assembly, Aseefa Bhutto Zardari, for NA-207 Shaheed Benazirabad. The court deemed the petition inadmissible, citing valid reasons for disqualifying the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) candidate, Ghulam Mustafa Rind, for NA-207.

The SHC's judgment highlighted that the PTI candidate opposing Aseefa was disqualified due to non-payment of an electricity bill, leading to the rejection of his nomination papers. The court emphasized that despite multiple warnings, the petitioner failed to settle the outstanding electricity arrears, resulting in the dismissal of the allegations raised against Aseefa.

During the proceedings, the petitioner's counsel could not provide a satisfactory explanation for the non-payment of the electricity bill. Despite attempting to seek redress from the Election Tribunal, the petitioners were unable to rectify the situation, only claiming discrepancies in the bill's reference number.

The SHC's decision reaffirms the importance of adhering to electoral regulations and fulfilling all necessary requirements for candidacy. Aseefa Bhutto Zardari's nomination for NA-207 Shaheed Benazirabad stands validated following the court's ruling, underscoring the significance of compliance with legal obligations in the electoral process.
