The Punjab Minister for Agriculture and Livestock leads efforts to enhance agricultural ties with Central Asian regions, focusing on collaboration, expertise exchange, and growth opportunities.

The Punjab Minister for Agriculture and Livestock, Syed Ashiq Hussain Kermani, recently spearheaded an online video conference at Agriculture House Lahore to bolster connections between Punjab and Central Asian regions. The conference saw the participation of key figures including Secretary Agriculture Punjab Iftikhar Ali Sahoo, Kazakh Ambassador Yerzhan Kistafin, and officials from Shymkent City and Turkistan Region.

During the conference, Minister Kermani underscored the significance of enhancing agricultural partnerships with the Kazakh region. He emphasized the potential of leveraging Central Asian expertise and technology to improve wheat, cotton, and fruit production in Punjab. The minister stressed the need for modern research and mechanization in Punjab's agriculture, highlighting the importance of collaboration with the Turkistan Region.

Ambassador Kistafin shared insights from a recent meeting with the Chief Minister of Punjab, where cooperation between Punjab and Kazakhstan was prioritized. He discussed the possibility of establishing twin city agreements between Lahore and Shymkent, along with Kazakhstan's interest in importing premium Pakistani rice, citrus, and mangoes from the Multan region.

Secretary Sahoo reiterated the importance of regular exchanges and conferences between agricultural experts from both countries. He encouraged the Turkistan Region and Shymkent City Agriculture Departments to propose collaborative ideas, promising reciprocal engagement with Punjab's proposals.

The conference led by Minister Kermani marks a significant step towards fostering stronger agricultural ties between Punjab and Central Asian regions.
