PTI Leaders Face Legal Challenges After May 9 Violence

The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Gujranwala has granted a four-day physical remand for PTI leader Aliya Hamza in connection with the May 9 violence case. Simultaneously, in Lahore, the bail for PTI leaders Dr. Yasmin Rashid, Umar Sarfaraz Cheema, Ijaz Chaudhry, and Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed has been extended until June 12 in four cases related to the same incident.

Aliya Hamza appeared before the Gujranwala ATC, where the police requested a 14-day remand, but the court approved a four-day remand instead. She was re-arrested by the police outside Sargodha jail for her alleged involvement in the May 9 violence in Gujranwala. Meanwhile, the Lahore ATC did not conduct proceedings due to the judge's absence and extended the interim bails of the PTI leaders until June 12.

The cases against the PTI leaders are registered at various police stations including Gulberg, Model Town, and Naseerabad. In a separate development, PTI leaders Omar Ayub, Shibli Faraz, and others were granted an extension in interim bail in a vandalism case.

The recent developments in the legal proceedings against PTI leaders stem from their alleged involvement in the May 9 violence incident. The cases have been filed at multiple police stations, and the courts are actively managing the legal processes to address the accusations.
