Tariq Bashir Cheema apologizes to Zartaj Gul after parliamentary clash

Following a tense confrontation between PML-Q legislator Tariq Bashir Cheema and PTI-backed Sunni Ittehad Council’s (SIC) MNA Zartaj Gul, a resolution was reached after Cheema apologized to Gul under the guidance of NA Speaker Ayaz Sadiq. The incident, which saw Opposition Leader Omar Ayub Khan expressing gratitude for the speaker's intervention, stemmed from a verbal altercation sparked by references made by Gul to a scandal involving Cheema's son at Bahawalpur university.

During a press interaction, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan confirmed Cheema's apology, with Gul reciprocating by forgiving him in accordance with her party's decision. The situation escalated earlier in the day when Cheema directed inappropriate language towards Gul after his speech, prompting PTI lawmakers to consider filing a police report against him for misconduct.

PTI MNA Sher Afzal Marwat condemned Cheema's actions as a violation of the law, leading to PTI representatives meeting with NA Speaker Ayaz Sadiq to seek redress. Despite calls for Cheema's suspension and legal action, the matter was resolved in a dignified manner by the speaker, with PML-N's Chief Whip Tariq Fazal Chaudhry also acknowledging the regrettable incident.

In a display of parliamentary decorum, Cheema's apology and Gul's forgiveness marked the conclusion of the episode, emphasizing the importance of respectful discourse and conflict resolution within the political arena.
