Lahore Monsoon Forecast: Rain Relief Expected

Lahore, the capital of Punjab province, recently experienced a refreshing downpour, marking the onset of the monsoon season. Various areas in the city, including Gulberg, Mall Road, Muslim Town, and Iqbal Town, were blessed with the much-awaited rain, bringing relief from the scorching heat and making the weather pleasant for residents.

Following the rain, some areas faced power breakdowns due to increased humidity post-rain and grid failures. The Meteorological Department reported a shallow westerly wave over northeast Punjab, Kashmir, and nearby hilly regions. The forecast for most districts in the province includes hot and humid weather, with the likelihood of rain and windstorms in isolated areas like Murree, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, and Lahore.

Looking ahead to Sunday, the province is expected to experience predominantly hot and humid weather, with possibilities of rain, windstorms, and thundershowers in specific regions. Similar weather conditions are anticipated across Pakistan, with the onset of monsoon rains in Sindh, particularly Karachi, gradually extending to other parts of the country.

As the monsoon progresses, heavy rainfall is predicted within the next 24 hours, raising concerns about potential flooding in rivers, canals, and urban areas, especially in the northeastern and southeastern regions. Above-average rainfall is foreseen for July and August, heightening fears of widespread flooding. Residents residing in flood-prone areas are urged to stay alert and take necessary precautions to safeguard themselves.
