Over the weekend, Lahore faced intense heat as a result of a persistent heat wave, with the Meteorological Office predicting similar conditions for the upcoming Eid holidays. The prevailing continental air mass enveloped most parts of the country, while a shallow westerly wave was expected to approach the northern regions starting Monday.

As Monday approaches, the country is set to experience predominantly hot and dry weather, with central and southern areas bracing for exceptionally high temperatures. However, certain regions such as Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, upper and central Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, and the Potohar region may encounter windstorms, thunderstorms, and rainfall during the evening and night.

Notable instances of rainfall were reported in D.G Khan and Bagrote, while Sibbi recorded a scorching maximum temperature of 48°C on Sunday. Lahore saw a peak temperature of 44.2°C and a minimum of 29.5°C.

As Lahore continues to grapple with soaring temperatures, it is crucial for residents to take necessary precautions to stay safe and cool during the Eid holidays. Keeping hydrated, avoiding direct sun exposure, and seeking shelter in shaded areas are essential practices to combat the heat wave.
