The Indonesian Embassy, in partnership with Pakistani institutions, launches an International Internship Program focusing on women empowerment, cultural exchanges, and enhancing Indonesia-Pakistan diplomatic relations.

An international internship program focused on women empowerment has been initiated by the Indonesian Embassy in collaboration with Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU) in Rawalpindi and the All-Pakistan Women Universities Consortium (APWUC). This program, known as the Online Internship Program (OIP), is currently in its fourth edition and aims to offer Pakistani students valuable insights from Indonesian experts, creating international exposure and networking opportunities.

The ongoing OIP is notably extensive, with the Indonesian Embassy partnering with a consortium of 18 women universities across Pakistan. Running from May 7 to June 6, the program includes ten online lecture sessions featuring distinguished speakers from Indonesia. The virtual inauguration was led by Ambassador Siti Nugraha Mauludiah, Director General of Information and Public Diplomacy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia, highlighting the historical ties between Indonesia and Pakistan.

During the opening ceremony at Fatima Jinnah Women University, the Chargé d' Affaires of Indonesia, Rahmat Hindiarta, emphasized the enduring relationship between the two countries, dating back to their founding leaders. With the 75th Anniversary of Indonesia-Pakistan Diplomatic Relations approaching, there is a renewed focus on enhancing cooperation in various mutual interest areas, particularly economic collaboration and people-to-people exchanges.

The Vice Chancellor of FJWU, Dr Uzaira Rafique, and the chairperson of APWUC stressed the significance of the internship in promoting cross-cultural understanding and encouraged active participation from the attendees. The inaugural session featured a lecture on Indonesian politics by Dr Chusnul Mariyah from the University of Indonesia, shedding light on political dynamics and the importance of upholding democratic principles.

To further strengthen ties between the youth of both nations, the Indonesian Embassy showcased traditional Indonesian dances performed by students from the International Islamic University Islamabad, alongside dance performances by FJUW students. Notable speakers in the OIP lineup include Dr Dian Masyita from the Indonesian International Islamic University, Vice Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Angela Tanoesoedibjo, and activists for democracy and religious moderation, Alissa Wahid and Yenny Wahid, daughters of the Fourth Indonesian President.

The International Internship Program on Women Empowerment, organized by the Indonesian Embassy in collaboration with Pakistani institutions, stands as a testament to the enduring friendship between Indonesia and Pakistan. Through insightful lectures, cultural exchanges, and networking opportunities, the program aims to empower Pakistani students and foster a deeper understanding of Indonesian culture and values. Such initiatives play a crucial role in promoting international cooperation and mutual respect among nations, paving the way for a brighter and more interconnected future.
