The honey industry in Saudi Arabia flourishes with significant funding, impacting thousands positively. Saudi Reef drives growth, aiming for self-sufficiency by 2026 in alignment with Saudi Vision 2030.

The honey industry in Saudi Arabia has experienced a significant upturn thanks to a substantial injection of SR140 million ($37.3 million) in funding from the Sustainable Agricultural Rural Development Program. This initiative has positively impacted over 10,500 individuals since its inception in 2020, particularly benefiting regions such as Asir, Hail, Makkah, and Al-Baha.

On the occasion of World Bee Day, Saudi Reef, a key player in the local honey sector, showcased its accomplishments in bolstering production. The Kingdom has witnessed a remarkable surge in honey production, reaching 3,120 tons in 2023. Ambitious plans are in place to elevate this figure to 7,500 tons by 2026, aiming for self-sufficiency in honey production.

The Sustainable Agricultural Rural Development Program has spearheaded various pivotal projects within the industry. These include the establishment of facilities dedicated to queen bee rearing and package bee production across different regions. Additionally, the program equips beekeepers with modern tools, advocates for advanced beekeeping techniques, and operates mobile laboratories and clinics for disease diagnosis.

Saudi Reef remains steadfast in its commitment to supporting beekeepers and driving initiatives that foster growth in the honey industry. These efforts align closely with the Kingdom's objectives of sustainable development, aiming to enhance environmental sustainability, diversify agricultural production, and contribute to the development of rural communities and food security.

By generating employment opportunities, boosting incomes, and elevating living standards for small-scale farmers, Saudi Reef's projects are in harmony with the goals outlined in Saudi Vision 2030. This strategic vision emphasizes the development and diversification of the agricultural sector to propel the nation towards a prosperous and sustainable future.
