Ali Nasir Rizvi, a senior police officer who recently served as DIG Operations in Lahore, has assumed the role of Inspector General of Police in Islamabad. Rizvi officially took charge after a 22-day delay following his appointment notification. The Islamabad police confirmed this development through their official account on social media platform X, previously known as Twitter.

The delay in Rizvi's assumption of charge was attributed to differences between the Federal and Punjab governments. However, he successfully relinquished his previous responsibilities and officially became the new IGP of Islamabad. Rizvi, a member of the 31st Common batch of the PSP, has a varied career within the police force. He has held positions such as Assistant Superintendent of Police, Superintendent of Police, Senior Superintendent of Police, and City Police Chief in nine districts across Punjab.
