An anti-terrorism court issues bailable arrest warrants for PTI leader Tayyaba Raja and others in the Askari Tower attack case due to non-appearance in court proceedings. The court emphasizes the importance of complying with legal obligations.

An anti-terrorism court (ATC) has taken a significant step in the ongoing trial related to the Askari Tower attack case by issuing bailable arrest warrants for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Tayyaba Raja and other individuals. This decision came as a result of their failure to appear in court proceedings linked to the May 9 riots.

Recently, during the hearings at Kot Lakhpat Jail, ATC Judge Khalid Arshad oversaw the case. Notably, incarcerated PTI leaders like Senator Ijaz Chaudhry, Dr. Yasmin Rashid, and former governor Omar Sarfraz Cheema were present. Additionally, fashion designer Khadija Shah and other accused individuals who were out on bail also attended the hearing.

The court expressed strong displeasure at the absence of certain accused individuals who, despite being on bail, did not show up for the hearing. Consequently, bailable arrest warrants were issued for Tayyaba Raja and the other accused for their non-appearance.

All the accused have been directed to ensure their presence at the next hearing scheduled for June 13. The court emphasized that copies of the challan would be distributed accordingly to all parties involved.

The issuance of arrest warrants in the Askari Tower attack case underscores the court's commitment to ensuring a fair and thorough legal process. It serves as a reminder of the importance of complying with legal obligations and attending court proceedings as required. As the case progresses, further developments are expected to shed light on the events surrounding the May 9 riots and the alleged involvement of the accused individuals.
