A recent scandal involving a Zoology paper leak at a Karachi college raises concerns about examination integrity and the need for stringent measures to prevent such incidents.

Amidst the annual intermediate examinations in Sindh, a disturbing incident of paper leak has once again tarnished the integrity of the process. The recent scandal unfolded at the Government Degree Girls Arts and Commerce College in Karachi, where a female examiner admitted to leaking the Zoology paper meant for second-year students. The examiner, in a heartfelt apology to the chairman of the Board of Intermediate Examination, Karachi (BIEK), took sole responsibility for the leak and clarified that the college staff was not involved. She has pledged to exercise greater caution in the future to prevent such occurrences.

In response to this breach, the BIEK chairman has assured the public that appropriate disciplinary measures will be taken against the examiner in line with the established rules and regulations. Zarina Rashid, the Controller of Exams at BIEK, expressed her dismay at the persistent challenges of cheating and paper leaks plaguing the examination system. Despite the introduction of watermarked question papers aimed at tracing leak sources, the problem continues to persist.

The recurring issue of paper leaks during examinations raises serious concerns about the credibility and fairness of the assessment process. It is imperative for educational authorities to implement stringent measures to safeguard the integrity of examinations and uphold the trust of students and the public in the education system.
